Our story
SELAYAR
Selayar Island is one of 17,000 islands in Indonesia located at the southwestern tip of Sulawesi, and is part of a 73-island archipelago with Takabonarate (the world’s 3rd largest marine reserve).
The island is 832 km2 on 90 km from North to South, and 30 km wide; Benteng is the administrative capital and center of activity of the island.
Because of its strategic seafront location, locals and travelers benefit from exceptional marine biodiversity.
The island’s economy revolves around traditional fishing and coconut farming.
Still today, Selayar remains today a quite authentic island, with its calm coconut farms, and the world-famous Tarsius – the smallest primate in the world!
Its long white sandy beaches and exceptional dive sites attract nature lovers from all over the world.
OUR STORY
This project—more of a crazy idea—started after we fell in love with the island.
The place is wild with nature of incredible beauty.
From a section of jungle, we created the PEARL BEACH COTTAGE, a “small-sized hotel” located on Pinang Beach on the east side of Selayar.
We aimed to preserve the authentic spirit of this place by respecting local customs, while also incorporating a bit—or rather, a great deal—of our own ideas about travel and well-being."
